I'll be the odd man out and say that unless you are mowing a lawn, 4' behind an A is a good choice. There were lots of Hardee fast hitch versions sold for 140s here and it was a good match. I'd want at minimum 35-40 HP to run a 5'.

Al

I've got a 6' behind a 60hp diesel and sometimes it'll bog the tractor down depending on how thick it is. I'd love to have an 8' but I'd have to slow down so I just keep chugging with the 6'.

At one time (long ago, I think) Bush Hog made one as small as 42 inch, called SQUEALER 42. I've got one (3pt hitch) behind a YANMAR 1500.

Both of those are three point hitch. He's looking for a drawbar hitch.

Oops, my bad!

But a tow hitch could be fabricated, and the single center wheel removed and some sort of non swiveling wheels added, one on each side.

A company called Mono made a 48" towable.

The 5 footer that I have is a Mono.

The way they made them, they was easily converted either way.

Check out this pic of the brochure. You can see how they used the bars that is normally used for the three point top link as the tow hitch by adding a clevvis type hitch and a few bars to make it ridgid.

I'm certain you aren't shopping for something like this, but it might just be the solution.

That will leave a tire puncturing or implement damaging stump.

I went back out there and looked. They are 1 inch saplings.

I passed up a Sunflower brand that was a 4 foot model,--Ya they exist but no call for them so they are hard to find. Still a few floating around on the scalpers trucks.
