Yes. We got the one running and ran it around a little bit. The 2nd one had no spark but everything else seemed in order. I tried to switch the magnetos but the one was keyed opposite of the other (tabs vs. slots on the mag). I pulled the magneto off of a McCormick Deering 15-30 which fit, but it wasn't producing any spark either. Oh well, we at least had fun with the one. It needs a carburetor cleaning/rebuild as at the end it would only run under almost full choke. The carbs on both are Kingston Model 'L's (patent date MAR 3, 1915). I need to do some research, but I did see that very similar Kingston carburetors were used on Ford Model T's.

I should add that both of these have Pickering flyball governors that I'm pretty sure were added on (not available from the factory). Both seem to operate as they should. The Smokstak forum has some discussion on rebuilding them should that ever become necessary.

Re: Samson Model M's
Well, it's been two years but I finally got in a good day at my in-laws' to work on the other Samson Model M (1920) and got it going. I'm guessing it's been at least 20 years since it has been running. It will start on the 2nd or 3rd crank now!

Re: Samson Model M's
I took measurements of the exhaust pipe on the 1919 so I can make one for the 1920. There isn't any hair left on my arms from making carburetor adjustments while flames shot out of the open manifold.

That's awesome Jim. What is the part with the pulley and belt turning on the right side?

That is a Pickering flyball governor. Both of these tractors have them installed. Both tractors have factory gear driven governors that are more like what we are used to seeing on Farmalls, but for whatever reason a previous owner abandoned them installed these a long time ago. I like that they are adjustable. Also of interest is that there are two throttle butterflies on these. One is hooked to a lever accessible to the driver. The other is further down the line and attached to the governor.
