OK I know its a Massey Harris, but I have no idea what model. I have it freed up but have not yet tried to start it
some pics of the engine and the grill that went to it
if you know what model Massey this is that would help a lot

It looks like a Continental engine. Can you read anything on the data plate on the left side?

The grille and the holes in the formed steel frame say, MH 22 to me.

I think you may be right, I think that hood has 5 holes in it, I have the hood, I will also look at the steering shaft as it is still on the tractor. the angles where different on some. It looks like many of them though, and as far as I know they all had the basic in/out gearbox on the back of the engine. The engine has a hydraulic pump on it and the tractor was a wide front and had a 3 point hitch. I have seen pics of a 22 with a wide front.

I thought the plate would have an engine model obviously stamped into it. Their engines typically were stamped with something like "F140". If it was a version for a specific customer, sometimes it was preceded with more letters. Maybe "MFC 1400" is a variation of the F140, which is the correct engine for a MH 22 and the MH 23 Mustang.
