Photo of the clutch return spring from underneath?
Anybody happen to have a photo showing where the back end of the clutch return spring is supposed to attach? Mine broke and fell out and for the life of me I can't find where the back end is supposed to hook. I suspect it may have been jury rigged.

Re: Photo of the clutch return spring from underneath?
Just did mine...the divet can be totally hidden by dirt and rust. Sorry these aren't clearer:
If you click on the 2nd one it turns right side up...?
I realized you might be looking for the hole in the pedal shaft, not the floor pan. In the first photo, there is only the hint of a small depression where the hole is, JUST above and to the right of the pedal adjustment bolt (a small area of rust). The spring hooks entering the hole from the inside.
Hope these help. Just keep digging!

The Cub is right here, so if you need a better photo, I would be happy to post one.

All three pedal springs are identical. Look at the brake springs (if they are still there).

Re: Photo of the clutch return spring from underneath?
Thanks Dale, that explains it. Sometime in it's past someone drilled a hole thru the floor apparently right where the notch would have been. The clutch pedal spring was jury rigged using what looks like a piece of a metal clothes hanger to connect to an opening back by the PTO lever. The problem is that caused the spring to rub on the main battery cable wearing a nice gouge in it right thru to the copper (I patched it). For now I have it hooked to one of those 2 larger holes in the floor pan until I can work out something better that doesn't involve contact with the battery cable.

Hi,
All 3 of the notches in the platform that hold the rear end of the springs are the same distance back from the front edge of the platform, and look the same.
The 1st pic below is a brake pedal spring, the clutch spring is the same, and in the same position on the clutch pedal.
The 2nd pic shows the notch for the rear end of the clutch spring.
TM Tractor has new springs.

Thanks, I already have the springs. Right where that dimple is in the 2nd pic is where the hole was drilled so it's gone.

Re: Photo of the clutch return spring from underneath?
Could you use a Clevis pin, or even a drilled bolt, inserted through the hole that's been drilled in the floor pan, and hook the spring to that?

Re: Photo of the clutch return spring from underneath?
When they drilled the hole it was enlarged forwards so when I did hook the spring in that hole it didn't make it tight enough to pull the pedal up. I think I will probably have to make a new dimple a little to the right of where the original was.

Re: Photo of the clutch return spring from underneath?
I like Dale's idea. Maybe use acarriage a or stove bolt so it doesn't stick up too much on top. Bolt it through the hole with enough sticking down to drill a hole through then hook the spring to it.
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over.

Re: Photo of the clutch return spring from underneath?
All better. I made a new dimple next to where the original one used to be. I drilled a hole than used my baby sledge and a dull chisle to dimple the forward edge down. Hooked the spring right up and it works like a champ. Thanks everyone for all your photos and suggestions.
