So what's the best things to do while the bolster is off? Are we retapping the drain or helicoil? I had the mount repaired, all the other holes are good and I chased them.
Thanks,
Brian

You could try a 3/8 npt tap (original thread). If the metal is too eroded away to restore the threads then now is the time to retap to a larger (or different) thread while you have access to it from the top side. I've found that a 1/2" compression tubing x 1/2" npt adapter will thread into the bolster with sealer on the tubing threads. This eliminates having to thread the cast iron.

It is also a good time to go over the steering
You may also want to coat the lower radaitor area with Glyptol viewtopic.php?f=1&t=95289&hilit=bolster

Hi,
The bushings in the steering gear might need replacing, it helps reduce the free play in the steering if the bushings are good.
Replacing the upper shaft oil seal, and lower oil seal are good to do.
TM Tractor has the parts.
You can turn the larger gear around on the splines 1/2 turn, and it will use gear teeth that are not used, unless someone turned it around before.
Clean the teeth and look closely to see if the teeth were used before.
Tighten the nut on the bottom of the steering gear carefully when you put it together again, overtightening it will make the steering bind.
Turn the steering wheel from side to side, before putting weight on the front wheels, to be sure it turns easily.
You can read the steering section in the Cub service manual, it has info.
Below is a pic from TM Tractor showing where the bottom oil seal is.
