Platform Carrier

Postby Bill Hudson » Sat Nov 27, 2021 9:14 am

I picked this up from an Amish fellow yesterday. I had taken this to him to use as a pattern to copy so he could make one for his own use. We did some other dealing and he agreed to fix mine up and this is the result.

Bill, what kind of wood is that? Undoubtedly something I don't see out here very much.

I think i could get a lot of good out of one of those. Would love to see it mounted up.
How much weight can be safely carried one? Maybe 150 lbs? Less?

Now I can see that the stake pockets was really made in house at IH. (Big gap where the two edges meet after forming without a welded seam!)

My stake pockets are a little boogered up and I was originally thinking that someone made them.

Kinda funny that IH went to the trouble of making those stake pockets and did not just use some ready made stock size rectangle tubing!

It looks really nice, Bill.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

What does an Amish guy need a Cub implement for? :? :?:

Maybe to make and sell to the Englishman?

You would be surprised, He and two of his brothers each own a Cub and drive them to work. He wanted a platform carrier to make a way to give his kids a ride. Their father hosted a modified garden tractor pull this summer. I sold them a CC transmission that they were going to make new gears for, I told them about Midwest Super Cub that makes gear sets for over and under drives and they purchased what they needed. According to their dad, "these kids need to have a hobby." Modified garden tractor pulling might just be it, :(

Then I’d say Amish Mennonite, not Amish. But even the Mennonites in our area wouldn’t do pulling tractors as a hobby. I guess that’s the difference, not in my area
