Anyone ever hear of Case Powergard HTF hydraulic oil?
I am looking for the oil specification to compare / cross reference!
I can not find any reference to this oil with a few hours combing the internet.
Machine is a Case 360 trencher!
I called the dealer where I bought the machine with no luck. They quit being a dealer for Case when Case sold off the trencher division.
Case sold out to Astec, and it looks like Astec dropped the trenchers completely!
Crazy since the trencher line-up is probably the best products Case ever had!

Re: Hydraulic oil
I don't see Case Powergard HTF but do see Case Powergard PTF. I assume "HTF" represents hydraulic tractor fluid. "PTF" is premium tractor fluid. References I found seem to treat "Case Powergard PTF" and "MS-1206" as saying the same thing. It looks like you can use any of the Hy-Tran equivalents and be fine. Look at the applications on this page for one of the several examples out there:

Re: Hydraulic oil
Not knowing for sure, but I was thinking HTF stood for Hydrostatic Transmission Fluid.
The Case 360 trencher uses a axial piston pump and axial piston motor for motion (forward / reverse), and two gear pumps for all other hydraulic functions.

Re: Hydraulic oil
Hydrostatic Transmission Fluid -- quite possible. In any case, looks like Hy-Tran equivalent is the right answer.

Re: Hydraulic oil
I just run accross a newer version of the owners manual from the Astec company.
It says use "Astec Hydraulic Transmission Fluid" in the hydraulic system. Naturally no specifications given!

Re: Hydraulic oil
I been using Deere hy-gard. But seems I have a problem there is water getting in the oil!
Unacceptable for a machine that spends most of its life in a building
279 hours on the last hydraulic oil change!

That figures. If Ford had bought it, they would have probably changed the recommendation to Type F ATF.

It does say type F is ok substitute!
But I never see 5 gallon buckets of atf.
Resivoir is listed @ 9.3gal. The whole system is probably close to 15
