Found a fellow Farmall nut. Made a friend, chewed some fat, talked tractors n had a blast. Bought the plow and bush hog, rest was given. Couldn't even make em keep the change from a $20. But I saw something you don't see much (if EVER). He had an offset Ford 2000. If ya painted it red it would have looked exactly like a Super A. Gonna swap em my scratchers for some no. 16 spring trips as he wants them n I want the complete front set for my cub 144 cultivators.

Don't have a good photo YET of bush hog's front, but was made to attach to drawbar n chains lift it. I need the TC stop but the curved part of TC control is free to a fellow cub person in need. PM me so NOT to mess up thread. Ole man said ppl from Texas have bought most of his parts tractors I'm trying to keep em going n running here in Mississippi. Got a ways to go to have as much as him though. He had a barn full of nuthin but cub cultivators n wheels n tires. Showed me the deluxe A seat w/ shock n cone shaped spring. The whole cultivator set up for the manual lift cub n too much other rare stuff to put in 1 thread. He even had the torque tube for a 1939 military cub (no provisions for TC to mount) he said that IH made it for military use pre WW II. (Wish he had the whole tractor) but the date code was right for 39 n never seen a cub torque tube without the pad for the TC to bolt up to.

Cubs didn't come into production until 1947,so I'm not sure what the "military cub" might have been.

According to him they made some Cubs in 1939 for military to try and test out. Now how much was same and different from production model made in 47 after the war n after IH made the new plant to make the Super A and Cubs is another story. I'd like to see what other parts he has if any off that cub and any pics. I also said to him they made some test models in 45/46 but cub 501 was 1947. He said it was made strictly for military specs and no attachments for farming implaments.

My main thing is the tube had an "I" code on date and no provisions for TC so plz tell me what that is then. (Note: " i" is code for 1939 or 1963 but by 63 Cubs had TC and the tube had the mounting pad with bolt holes by then.

Find some pictures and documentation on the ‘39 military Cub or consider that story BS from him. People live to spread stuff like that. I agree with Bob, nothing Cub until 1947.

Agreed. I can't imagine what proposed military use there was for a Cub outside of an agricultural one. No pictures or records of that in the public domain.

I believe there were some prototypes/experimental/pre production models as early as 1945. I've never heard of 1939 military Cubs.

My father has an offest Ford 2000, it's the only one I've ever seen. Really neat little tractor.

I have seen one for sale online, they called it a 1939 prototype. Had no lift arms or cultivator attachment up front. True or not I have no clue. They wanted 5k so naturally I kept scrolling.

I'm not discounting the 46 picture you linked to. Just sharing my own finds.(That did not turn up your picture!)

Nor claiming accuracy of the article linked below , but the "X" , had prototypes in 44 when the model became named the Cub.

It came at a time the manufacturer wanted to reduce lag time getting new models to market.
That hints of reduced testing of , (and in) markets by placing Cubs in varied hands to try out prototypes.
Pre 47 does not turn up models going anywhere beyond company grounds so far in my limited searches.

Way too small to be from an A or B. I own Cubs and Super A's n can spot size difference in them easily. Wasn't from a letter Farmall. I'll take pics next time I go there but it's a 3 hr drive (6 hr round trip) I gotta save up till next time I go to get a bunch of IH stuff. He does have a ton of clamps n spring trips I want.
