storm king
Has anyone ever heard of a Storm King tractor? A guy said he had one and wondered if I would be interested in it. So far though, with multiple searches, I have been unable to find anything about them. All I found was one image that looked like what he described, but it didn't actually say Storm King on the picture. It was shown along with Power King and Economy tractors, so who knows if it really was a Storm King. I hate to go look at something without having some idea about it.

Re: storm king
Wonder if he’s mistaken on the name and it’s actually a “silver king”?

The Economy and Power King tractors were made by EPCO. Other tractor names made by EPCO were National, Jim Dandy, Power Queen and Country Squire so I would assume the "Storm King" is not related to EPCO.
Could you have misunderstood the name??

Re: storm king
MTD made a nice garden tractor in the 70s that was sold under different names, i.e. Farm King, Ranch King, etc. It could be one of those. It had big rear wheels like the old Case garden tractors, and had 3 point hitches on them.

Re: storm king
It is possible that I miss understood what he said, he may have said Silver King. I did forget to say in my first post that we are talking about a garden tractor and I didn't think Silver King made garden tractors. He did say it had a square front end a Briggs engine and tall rear tires. Where he held his hand to show the height, I would think they were about 30 inch diameter.

Re: storm king
From your description, it's probably one of the MTD built machines I listed - more than likely the Farm King. Here are the specs for the MTD machine.

As I said, MTD built this machine for several different stores, including Montgomery Ward and others, each with a different name, but they were all MTD 900 series tractors.

Re: storm king
Looks like Bill found several good examples of Silver King tractors in that auction link.
Sure glad cubs don't have PTO's right next to my shoe laces!
These are definitely bigger than a garden tractor!

Re: storm king
I'm pretty sure we're not talking about a Silver King, but something a lot smaller. Until I get more description or an image or two, I'm still thinking a MTD 900 series variant. I almost picked up one a few years back, and it was a Farm King. I just couldn't get with the owner to work out a deal on it.

Re: storm king
It could be, but "farm" sounds more like "storm" than "power", but unless we have more info or a picture, I'm just making my most educated guess.

Re: storm king
Hopefully in the next couple days I'll go get a look at it. Did remember something else he said, by the serial number he thought it was a 1952.

Re: storm king
Not too many made garden tractors in 1952, and will rule out a lot of brands, including the MTD 900 series. But, he could be wrong on the year also.
