Exhaust Stack Replace
I have a 1950 model Farmall Cub (SN 118157). My exhaust stack has broken off right where it enters the manifold. Is there any way I can replace with a new stack (exhaust pipe -- vertical) or must I buy a new manifold? This is a working tractor--my main mowing machine, not a parade model. I am not a mechanic so I need some help on what I need to do.

Re: Exhaust Stack Replace
HELP! I have hit a snag. I have removed the four nuts which seem to be attaching the manifold but it seems stuck as if glued on. I am reluctant to put more pressure or use a tool (screwdriver?) to force it lest I do damage. Am I overlooking something. HELP. I really need to get this machine working.

Re: Exhaust Stack Replace
When mine broke of l used a hacksaw blade and cut through the remainder of the old pipe in two spots (across from each other) then got screwdriver in the seam where the pipe meets the castiron and it started to peel right out. I then replaced it with a piece of black pipe.
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over.

Re: Exhaust Stack Replace
Put the 4 nuts back on. Do the repair with the manifold still attached to the engine. Stuff a rag down the hole before you start hacksawing. Vacuum it out before you install the new pipe.

padre wrote::thanx: Followed Jim Becker's advice and to my amazement I was able to get out the old broken off stub and installed a brand new pipe. Thanks to all who helped.
Jim is pretty good at letting us know how to do thing correctly and safely. I have learned a lot from him in the last 20 years.
