I bought a 24" wood planer built between 1886 and 1905. Built by Cordsman MFG.
It was my daughter-in-law grandfather's and hasn't been run in 17 years.
As far as I have been able to find out he powered it by a cub C60 engine
I don't know anything about this engine and the only tractors I have worked on are a Case VAC and Ford 641
I've had to store it away for the winter before working on it but I am anxious to find out more about the engine.
Here are some pictures.
Can anyone tell me more about this engine?
here's a tag on it. Doesn't look like other serial numbers
Thanks
Wally

Nice Cub Power Unit - With an implement to run!
Don't start it up without first priming the oil pump. (search this site for instructions)
Might also enjoy taking a look at this thread of another C-60 power unit being brought back to life.

Anything you need to know about this engine can be found on here. You've already been informed about priming it with oil, use the search function and you will find some explicit instructions. Also our site sponsors, listed at the bottom of the page, can sell you almost any part you may need. The CUB power unit was a very capable and economic power source for many implements; we can't wait for a video of your wood planer in use!

Re: cub motor used to power a 24" wood planner ?
Your C-60 engine is from a model 50 hay baler. Most all info pertaining to a Cub engine will also apply to your power unit. Engine speed and a few minor details will be different but most Cub info will apply. I don't know much (anything) about wood planers but I would think that's a hand full for a C-60, make sure it in perfect tune!

Re: cub motor used to power a 24" wood planner ?
Thanks everyone.
I've been looking for videos and such on the baler.
I've seen a couple where the engine was started by turning the pulley with a wrench. Is this the proper way? Is The wrench special?
I didn't get a crank with this and I'm also missing the radiator cap. But I'M sure I'll find more parts I'll need.
I see differen't Screens in front of the radiator but none like mine.
Its time to winterize the camper, and I can't wait for spring

Hi,
Below is the 50 Baler Engine owner's manual.
There is also an engine serial number, it shows where it is on page 4.
http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... index.html
It may need the ignition points and condenser replaced, the points can corrode sitting, then there can be no spark.
Below are pics of a 50 Baler, with the C 60 engine.
