Front Bolster Bolt Torque Spec

Postby cub67 » Tue Nov 26, 2019 10:08 pm

I'm struggling to get the front bolster assembly bolted back up the the front of the engine. In my searches I may have found the secret. Will try tomorrow with some additional helpers! I can't seem to locate the torque spec for those 5/8 bolts that mount the bolster to the engine in the service manual or by searching here. Can someone help me out? Sure seems like it came apart a lot easier or maybe I'm trying too hard not to mess up that pretty yellow paint! Anyways...thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi,
For bolts that have no torque recommendation listed in the service manual, the manual has a torque table. Find the size bolt you have, and the length, and the torque is probably listed.

This table is for bolts with modern markings on the heads. The markings are shown at the lower right of the page. IH was using this style of bolts in the 1970's. :)
