Super A Tem. gauge's

I have a Super A. Even when the tractor is worked hard with the shutter closed in front of the radiator, and the tractor obviously hot, neither of the temp gauge's indicate that the tractor is even warm. I have replaced both the water and the touch control temp gauges with Steiner gauges for a super A, but both gauges show very little indication of heat. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

test the temp gauge to see it is working, heat the sensor with a propane torch and see what the gauge does, make sure coolant is coming out of hole where the sensor goes in

The temp gauge on my super C hardly ever moves and I know it works. Only on an August day after 2-3 hours of brush hogging it will get to Normal.

I did check both the old and new gauge's with boiling water, and a torch. Water did come out of the hole where temp bulb goes in. Both worked the same. My only idea is that this is normal due to the big radiator, and where the temp bulb is positioned. As far as the touch control temp I guess it just does not get that hot.
Thanks for the reply's. If any body else has any other ideas, let me know. I don't want to reposition the gauges from their original position.

And what did they read when the bulbs were in boiling water?

Not quite up to the peak on normal if I remember correctly.

Correction: In boiling water both gauges read hot. Sorry its been a few years since I did that.

I don't know just where they should point, but I would expect boiling water to put them somewhere into the red. Some models had different gauges for use with different coolants and thermostats, but not the Super A. I'm not sure which temperature range this one matched up with.
