Snow plowing with Workhorse

Postby k hutchins » Tue Feb 16, 2021 4:40 pm

2 hours of seat time today, and Workhorse earned his keep. Pictures only show the top half where the snow was drifted to about 14". I actually had to plow like 3 times to get it all the way down, and pushed back far enough to make room for the next time. The piles you see by the pine tree are as high as the headlights.

We got hit with 6-8" plus high winds to cause some good drifts.

We was supposed to get 8 to 10 inches total between Monday and Tuesday, but, what we did get is like 3 inches of small ice balls!

It was hard to believe we was having the frozen rain, because it was 22° here! Crazy!

Clutch is working just fine. It definitely got a workout today.
Sorry the pic doesn't show it with the blade on it. Maybe l'll get a pic tomorrow of my set up with the original '48 blade and hand lift.

I guess I am becoming a wimp in my old age, I didn't even put my snow blade on my cub this winter, and with wind chills runnning below 0 for most of the snow fall I would not have used it anyway. :big give up:

I finally broke down and put the plow on the Loboy yesterday. Thanks to you trailblazers that showed me that a 54 and a 59 would both fit at the same time. Only about 5 inches of ice, sleet and snow.

Alright lndy, this is for you.

As the temp went up, the snow/ice base in the drive turned to 6" of slush, making it difficult to get in and out. So l hopped on Workhorse this morning for a couple quick passes to clean it up.
No video as it takes two hands to plow with the hand lift.
20210224_094647.jpg

Just a still working the down hill side. Needed to stop for the pic. This stuff was wet and heavy.

Back in his house after the clean up.

Nice shine on the bottom half of that blade! Looks like it got into some dirt or rock work in the last year or so.

I grade that same driveway (dirt/gravel) every spring with the same blade. Blade is all original, '48 Cub, mostly original. All paint is original.
