Cub Fast Hitch
Does the fast hitch FL194 plow beam - 520260R21 - come from the factory with a slight bend and twist or is it supposed to be straight. I have one that is straight, I think it has been straightened which may affect performance. Haven't tried it yet.

Since you posted in the cub section, then I am asuming your using this with a cub tractor.
I have 3 fh 194 cub plows and each one has that slight twist / bend just past the vertical stabilizer.
The plow beam with only a part number and absent the letters CUB is for the fast hitch 100, 130, and 140!

Re: Cub Fast Hitch
Mine does say cub after the number. Do the plows for the 100, 120 have the same twist or are they straight. Will mine work with my cub being straight. Why is the twist needed.
Whoever straightened this did a good job it is straight and true.

Hard to tell without trying it.
In your pic, it looks like there is a mark from where someone heated it up where the twist should be!
Could you post a top view pic?

Re: Cub Fast Hitch
yes there is heat marks
The beam on the 140 is twisted just like the cub. It would be interesting to know the part number of the 140 beam.
I just watched a video called " Farmall 140 with one bottom plow". The guy did an excellent job of showing the draft of the plow from behind tractor. So I understand the need for the tilt of the beam but it seems to me IH could have saved themselves a lot of trouble by making the beam straight then use the plow mounting brackets to make the correct trail and draft.
I will have to wait until I get the fast hitch assembly mounted to the Cub before I will know if I wasted money buying this. Maybe it will work fine.

Re: Cub Fast Hitch
You could always reheat it and bend it back!
I know, easier said than done, right?
I could probably check one of mine and get you the degrees of difference if needed!
Pm me if so!

Dell,
To answer your questions: No and the twist is to account for the Cub tilting right (furrow wheel) and the plow being perpendicular to the soil surface.
Take a look at this link, http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=38411. Pay particular attention to the pics of the Cub setting on wooden blocks on the asphalt driveway. This was done to simulate how the tractor would be in a plowed field, without the soil being in the way. Incidentally there was a 194 plow there that someone convinced the owner the beam needed to be straightened. The plow owner was not a happy camper after learning about how the plow needed to be set up.

Re: Cub Fast Hitch
I was hoping to be able to use this plow with both the Cub and 300U. It won't go into the ground with the 300U because the tip angle is too high and rides on the trailing edge of the landside which raises the right drive tire. And it sounds like it is not going to work on the Cub. But I'll give it a try. Thanks for all the great information.

Re: Cub Fast Hitch
Hi,
Don't overlook the last pic on the page in Bill's post above, the collar on the lift rod needs to be in the position shown, so the plow can float up and down.
It can bend the lift rod to push down on a plow with it.
The plowing depth is controlled by the depth lever, to the right of the seat.
