Tapered PTO Bushing

Postby xrcr » Wed Mar 02, 2022 12:54 pm

What is the correct way to re install the tapered bushing on the PTO shaft. I now know the INCORRECT way to remove this and the pulley.

Remove the small bolts on the tapered bushing (the pulley has the threaded holes) and put them in the threaded holes on the tapered bushing. Then gently begin tightening them evenly to force the pulley and bushing apart. Potential problems: 1)pulley rusted to the bushing and 2)bushing rusted to the PTO shaft. Good luck.

 Edit: To answer your question, simply reverse the process from above and apply generous amounts of grease/never seeze to the mating surfaces.
