Decals

Postby Jim Reid » Tue Mar 29, 2022 5:33 pm

We have my wifes dads 1971 cub he bought new it was yellow and he made the dealer paint it red we have owned it since he passed (1991) the yellow has bled through in places and i have promised her for some time i would paint it i am now fulfilling that promise it is at a local paint shop.my question is i like the longstripe this cub will never leave our family so i am not trying to say it's a longstripe i just like the looks of them whatis the measurements from the front of the hood to the start of the decal and how far from the bottom of the hood to the bottom of the decal.

THANKS Jim

I don’t have the dimensions, but TM Tractor has photos of all cub decals and their placement on the tractor. Just look under NEW PARTS, then under DECALS. When you find the decal, click the picture and A photo of the decal on a tractor will be displayed.

As I recall, the long stripe decal has a hole or notch to fit around the hole for the headlight post or wire. That pretty well sets where the decal has to go.

I'd have to go out to the barn to verify it, which I'm not doing tonight.

Jim is correct again, watch out that some sell the decal without the hole in it

TM Tractor pics looks like this: http://www.tmtractor.com/new/de/de43.htm . Clink on the link to view. I think I have an original hood so that I can get some close up photos and measure later today.
EDIT TO ADD PHOTOS:
hood 76 rt2.jpg
hood 76 rt1.jpg
hood 76 Lt2.jpg
hood 76 Lt1.jpg

Placement measurements: Bottom edge of hood to bottom edge of decal ranges from 1 5/8 to 1 7/8 inches. Probably should be about 1 3/4 inches if they were straight. Front edge of hood to front edge of decal is 7/8 inch on one side and 3/4 inch on the opposite side. Hope this helps. :hattip:
