Red Cub Cadets
Were red IH cadets painted with tractor red or was there another red paint used to paint them?

Thanks. I wasn't sure if 2150 or Gloss Red was correct.

The enamel of the IH 2150 dries to a gloss red, but you probably already know that. I take it the "Gloss Red" you mentioned (above) is probably another paint manufacturer.

Re: Red Cub Cadets
The red cadets (of course, they ALL should have been red, but anyway......) could be gloss red. Double check me, but IH changed from 2150 to gloss red around 1980/81.

Re: Red Cub Cadets
It's the same color just a difference in glossiness. It changed from 2150 to gloss red for full size tractors when Case took over production of Farmalls. Cadets were not made by Case but by CCC and it stayed 2150. It's your Cadet, paint it how you want it.

The gloss red was definitely before case entered the picture. I’m thinking when IH went from the 86 series to the 50 series. So that was ‘81. I hadn’t thought about CC being gone by then.

Re: Red Cub Cadets
Cub-bud, so it looks like you're stuck with gloss red and gloss red.
It's a win-win; no wrong decision here. Have at it and PLEASE post some pictures when you're done (or during...)!

Re: Red Cub Cadets
The red Cub Cadets were introduced when IH came out with the 82 series CCs, late 70s. I.e. 282, 382, 582, 682, 782, etc......I want to say 1979, but I have to dig up my info I have.

Re: Red Cub Cadets
IH sold Cub Cadet to MTD in 1981. The 82 series were made from 79-85. I guess we really need to know the 2150 to Gloss Red decision date and did it pertain to Cadets. I need to check SN on the 582 once it's mine and see who made it.
