Use copper coat on head gasket and follow instructions in the manual.
Painting:
A good, easy and inexpensive way to paint your tractor is with the Case-IH Iron guard primer and the Case-IH paint. some guys will throw a little hardner in the paint to keep it glossy and Red longer.
The finest paint job I ever say on a tractor was one done by Geoff Gauger and it will put all of the base coat / clear coat paint jobs to shame and he uses IH paint.

Painting and priming all depends on the job you want to do. If you want to just keep your tractor from rusting and are going to use your tractor buy the cheaper paints. If you are going to spend 200 or 300 hours restoring you may want to pay for the better paints and primers. I may can help you out with some questions on paint and primers. If I don't know I might be able to find out for you. Pup.
