Well I am at the four year point with this project and still moving forward slowly.
Spent most of this year working on my other tractors.
Did find a parts tractor for this project in August.
Hopefully I can make a lot of progress this winter if the job and weather cooperate.

Getting close to five years on the " money pit ". Had to pull it out of the shop and turn it around to work on rear half and flywheel side. Still a ways off from getting it running. At least I am able to move it now.

Another picture of more progress on the "Money Pit".
Hope to have the radiator cleaned, painted and reinstalled in the next couple of weeks.
I have to put a clutch in the Farmall H sitting behind it first.
Already have the pump out. Need to clean the grime out of the bell housing before I start on the clutch.

You think you have problems, look at this trainwreck I'm working on! It was purchased new in the early 60s by my great grandmother so my granddaddy would have a bigger tractor to keep her farm disked up after she put it in the soil bank. My dad was in the Army and granddaddy was spread pretty thin.....last time it ran was in the early 80s.

The only problem I have now is trying to find the time to work on it.

Mine was stuck bad also. It got bored .125" over. Head was replaced because it was cracked. Intake manifold was broken. A lot of new clutch and brake parts installed.

I think I have all needed parts except a PTO shield, fenders, wiring and battery. I just have to remember where I put them and how everything goes back together. Still a lot of cleaning and painting to do.

I stopped working on this 49 Ferguson TE20 because they were logging across the road and that much good oak was something I could not pass up so close to home. hauled it all on the lil trailer pulled by a JD gator HPX. There is much more wood than this pic shows, that pile is over 8 feet tall and 40 feet long.

I have the same problem, have to remember what goes where and where are those bolts?

I got a look at a JD A once owned by a fellow I bought a horse drawn sickle bar mower from.
I couldn’t make heads or tails from it. Two cylinder and where the hell is the engine? Weird engine layout but there’s something about it I liked though and I’ve kinda wanted one since seeing it.
I’d doubt if I had a tractor apart that long I’d remember how to get it back together.
Your tractor is showing signs it’s going to be a work of art when it’s done!

Horizontal 2 cylinder tractors are a completely different animal for sure. The "block" is just the two cylinders and the engine crankcase and transmission case are one piece. The main gear that drives everything is actually outside of the main case, as is the 6th speed gears! And an octopus coming from the oil pump/filter housing to get oil where it needs to go inside the crankcase. Everything is big and over-engineered but I am amazed that they used the design as long as they did---it's basically 1900's technology.

We'll see if I can figure out how to get this one back together when it's time.

The "Money Pit" is running and 99.9 % together. Took it to a local show and parade today. Drove it 9 miles to town and it ran fine. During the parade it decided to give me problems and did not make it the full route. Ended up being stuff in the fuel tank that was not suppose to be in there. Cleaned the fuel valve, readjusted the clutch and it ran fine the 9 miles back home. I am normally very careful about keeping my gas cans clean but I must have had an attack of oldman foolishness in trying to get the tractor ready.
