REALLY BAD IDEA

Postby Brent » Fri Mar 18, 2005 10:23 am

 I took all the parts of my sickle mower down to bare metal for painting and then all the rain came to So. California. I couldn't get the primer on in time so I thought I would spray all the bare metal with PAM, the spray cooking oil. Bad idea! That stuff turnes into glue. Nothing got rusty but it took me forever to get it out of all the nooks and crannies. Sounded like a good idea at the time!

Maybe you should have "grilled" it first to remove the Pam!

You could have an assembly line Bar BQue if you hung one possum from each rockguard,

Seriously brent Do you have the dimensions of the wooden grass guard for the sickle bar mower.

Bill, I believe that information is available on Rudi's site.

Brent,

Put all the parts in the dishwasher with a little extra soap and the Pam will come right off!

:D Bigdog almost had the solution. I warmed it up a little with a propane torch, than spayed it with lacquer thinner. Used one of the Harbor Freight pump it up yourself aerosol cans. Worked well. I turned the torch OFF before I sprayed the lacquer thinner. My Mama didn't raise no fool! George, I tried like the devil to get the bar in the dish washer but it just wouldn't fit and my wife wouldn't let me cut a hole in the top of the dish washer so it would.

Brent , You could also use carberator cleaner that would take off the spray on cooking oil. "O" by the way did your wife know you had the PAM in the garage? Steve
