Hi all,
My beloved 826 gasser hydro is ill [weak and declining tranny ] and I am so attached to it that I am seriously considering trying a rebuild as needed after running all the pressure, etc. tests. According to what I hear, many$$$$.
My question is - anybody have knowledge of capable HYDRO repair places with a good track record?
my 826 gasser is comparatively unique in that while there were several 826 hydros made, only 14 or 42 were gassers.[per 2 different 'expert' sources].
My reasoning is then, that there are very few 826 hydro gassers still running. We use ours as our primary chore and light field work tractor. And love it!
Thanks for any thoughts1

I have heard of a place or two that does IH Hydros, I can't remember where. You might ask on redpowermagazine.com, there are some pretty knowledgable folks on the newer IH tractors there. And yes if it really needs a full rebuild, you're talking some serious $$$. But if your tractor is unique, I think it's definitely worth it.

Re: IH Hydro repair options?
I passed one up last spring at junk auction that just quit moving halfway out the shed!-----(826 gas)---had Birkeys (local IH dealer here) haul it in to the shop and they took trans top off, looked inside, and put the top back on and told him to junk it, NOT worth fixin!---If price was right I wanted it for the tires, wide front end, and the engine, BUT a junkman had WAY deeper pockets than I did, so it went to MO. junkyard! thanks; sonny

Try Herrs Machine. Washington Ks. They have an add in Harvester Highlights. I know of a few who have used them around here. They will rebuild about anything.
