Has anyone tried these new aftermarket carburetors? I see the price has come way down?
Just wondering if they are any good? and if anyone that got one was happy with it?

Re: Cub aftermarket carburetor
Jim, At some point someone will buy one, The price is now $20 free shipping all most worth a try just because of the price. They seem to be jetted for the later C-60
I am looking for a review from a user, china or not. We never liked J A Pan either. Look at all the electronics today made there.

That is the starting price. Who knows what it will go to when the bidding is over.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Cub aftermarket carburetor
The same eBay vendor has 3 showing in his recent completed sales. All sold in the 50 some dollar range.
TM has had a replacement (IH look alike) carburetor available for quite a while. Shortly after it came out, Don did a thorough inspection/analysis of it. His report is in the How To Forum:
viewtopic.php?t=20230
As I recall, at least in the early years of the repro being available, Tom was taking each one apart, substituting a couple parts, and readjusting the carburetor before he sold it. I don't know if that continued to be needed or not. In any case, TM was providing a value-added task to make sure each carburetor would work.
I don't know if the carburetors you currently find on eBay are the same as TM's or if they are another generation of knockoff away from the originals. In any case, you can be sure they will be sent out exactly as they came off the boat.

Re: Cub aftermarket carburetor
They are not the same. The quality, fit and finish are not equal to the TM/Steiner carbs. Bob McCarty bought one and we took it apart at Cecil’s Cubfest this past fall. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for.

Re: Cub aftermarket carburetor
I haven't had time to do a thorough eval, but did see these things. The carbs are advertised for the numbered LoBoys but do not have the correct choke shaft for a cable choke. The bevel on the throttle butterfly did not look as if it would seal correctly. The idle tube is not threaded in, but does easily rotate. At some point I'll forcibly remove it and tap/helicoil the hole for an OEM idle tube. It does not look like it was adequately reverse engineered so I'm not sure if the jet, bleed and discharge tube are calibrated together. All that being said, I have not had it on a Cub and with modifications may be adequate. With eBay prices ranging from a starting price of $25-$200+, it would be interesting to know what the wholesale price is. Most of the eBay sellers also do not appear to be related to tractor supply firms. If I have time, I'll try and work on it. Our weather has been 20* above normal and not conducive to "indoor" projects.
