Re: how dry I am
Sleet and freezing rain started on Saturday evening thru part of the night. Lights blinked once as we were getting ready to retire for the day, but never lost power. Sunday, everything had a nice coating of ice on it, but not very thick. No one lost power from what I could tell. By the mid-morning, sun was out and everything began to melt. Sunday afternoon wasn't too cold, low-mid 30's, and no wind.
Looking forward to warmer days (and nights).

Re: how dry I am
From Saturday afternoon until Monday just prior to 10 AM, iced up. Grass was still above the ice and snow but everything above the ground was ice.
Once sun came out started scraping off the windows of wife's vehicle. Got the windows cleared and went grocery shopping. Main roads were clear, black top side streets, starting to melt off.
95 Dodge pickup with doors lapping over the roof, still haven't tried to open the doors.

Re: how dry I am
It's currently the driest winter in 40 years in Missouri. Currently in a moderate drought area.
Visited the acreage last two days. Checked the water flow on the spring fed streams bordering the north and east side of the acreage. North side stream flow was almost non- existent. East side stream flow was very low.
Have a spring inside the acreage fence that fills/feeds a pond. The pond's water level was the lowest I've seen. There was some water in the pool where the spring exits the bluff.
Currently hoping I have enough water for the pecan and English walnut seedling to be planted this spring. Next issue is if the drought persists, will there be enough water for the 60 or so head of cattle grazing the acreage.
Last drought the local ponds went dry. Only water available for cattle was the spring and pond inside the acreage fence.

1 inch of snow this morning and rain predicted over the next few days, maybe some relief from our drought.

Re: how dry I am
we have gotten a little over 1 1/2 inch of rain spread over the last 5 days, and with warm weather today, I am seeing some sprigs of green here and there. Something I have not seen in several months.

Re: how dry I am
81/100" rain over the last 12 hours. Nice soaker in type rain. Currently raining.
Low water crossings were fine, no over flow. Normally 3/4" of rain would put water over the low water crossings' road way.

Re: how dry I am
OH great! First, long time extremely dry, then moderate drought, now we are in a flood watch, plus freezing rain. And more rain in the forecast.
Sump pump in basement has been running off and on most of the day. Shop vac with water pump, every so often we have been vacuuming up seepage in the basement.
No use going to the acreage until at least 24 hours after it quits raining, then have to dig out the culverts under the low crossings.

Re: how dry I am
Freezing rain. 95 Dodge pickup is frozen solid. Exterior door handles won't move. Told wife that if we really needed to go any place that we could get out the garden hose and hose down the pickup.
Watched the mailman use, I assume a rubber mallet, break the ice on an apartment units mail box. No mail today, our RFD mail box is frozen shut.
Edit. Hour and 15 minutes after previous post, freezing drizzle. Weather forecast, above freezing around noon, tomorrow.
