New Cub, intro and questions

Hello, I just bought what looks to be a 1958 lo-boy cub, serial number 6844. It mostly yellow, but chipping reveals red underneath. I believe this means it was originally intended for an “industrial” customer? I picked it up because it came with a fast hitch and matching fast hitch plow, blade, box blade, cultivator, and disc, as well as the vast majority of a sickle bar mower and the deck of a belly mower (the smaller octagonal one). It looks to be a solid little tractor, runs, drives, good oil pressure, etc. I’m looking forward to going through it per the forum checklist. Once I get everything checked out and up and running that should pretty much cover my intended use of mowing the lawn and putting in a garden.

I will initially need some help determining what exactly I need to get the mowers going, as the grass is threatening to get away from me!
I think I just need the pto pulley for the sickle mower, but I am to understand that’s not exactly a common or cheap part. See some on eBay, but the prices are wowsers! I don’t know if there is an alternative anyone has found from industrial supply houses, something adaptable with a little machining, etc? The belly mower is less complete (no drive pulley setup). I may end up just needing some guidance on what I need to look for for a different unit for that purpose.

Thanks in advance for everyone’s help. I look forward to sharing the little yellow cub’s adventures. I have the idea that I’ll use it through the summer then next winter tear it down and make it pretty again.

Email them to your self from your phone. It should ask if you want to resize them before you send them. You can then choose a smaller size.

Or if you have the pictures on a Windows PC, you can open them in "Paint" and resize/save. Exact steps depend on your version of Paint.

Wouldn’t take much to put the platform carrier back to original. They are handy. Since you have a blade I see no need for a box blade. But that’s just me.
Edit: Hope the sickle mower pulley is there

I was using the box blade to pile limbs on top of cleaning up after the big wind we got a few days ago, and was somewhat surprised that it worked so well for that. Finally stepped back and realized it’s a carryall with the main arms flipped upside down and the box blade bolted to the bottom. Well cool! I’d rather have that than two blades anyway. Obviously I need a grill for the tractor. What would be the correct style for this year?

I do want to put in a garden, but my primary purpose for this machine is a big fun lawnmower. (Yes, I know, “buy another cub.” I’d love to, but there’s this little thing called money that only comes my way so much.)

There is a listing within semi-reasonable distance of me for two belly mowers with mule drives, belts, etc. off of two standard cubs. I don’t know if either of these would fit, or could be adapted to do so?
