We had 3 or 4". I just finished plowing 3 neighborhood driveways and it is 1 degree with a very steady wind; it is brutal.

We ended up with 2" accumulation here at most but it is blowing and drifting everywhere. Temperature is a balmy -2 woth a windchill at -22. The gas plow truck did not want to start easily this morning, battery may be nearing expiration.

Yeah it was 57 this morning and they're calling for 3 degrees overnight. Quite a drop.

Re: Well, The Christmas Blizzard Is Coming
I was going to wait until Saturday to plow due to the wind. However, I tested positive for Covid this morning. Last night was not a good night. It just feels like a bad cold.

Take care of yourself, Ricky. You don’t wait it to transition to pneumonia. That snow can wait, or someone else can do it.

Well it exceeded the forecast, it was 1 degree when I got up at 5am so a drop of 56 degrees from the high to the low in the last 24 hours. Yikes!

We went through that transition Thurs. night, -10 yesterday morning, warming to -7 in the afternoon. Temp. is 0 right now, supposed to see 10 today. The cold temps, along with the high winds made it real mean yesterday. Maybe I’ll make the trip to the Mail box, today.

Re: Well, The Christmas Blizzard Is Coming
Best I can tell, the lowest here was -11. Made for some strange cracks and pops in the house, with the expansion and contraction going on. Normally that kind of temperature would have frozen the lake completely over. But, the wind kept that from happening.

Re: Well, The Christmas Blizzard Is Coming
Finally got one door of the truck open and found the battery too weak to start it. On to the Suburban, no luck getting the doors open yet. We may be stuck here until it is warm enough for me to stay outside long enough to hook up the charger on the truck.
Mailbox door only opens about a quarter way. I hope the mailman doesn't bend it trying to get it open.
63º in the house because the furnace can't keep up.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Well, The Christmas Blizzard Is Coming
Erik and his family left Watertown, NY on Thursday in rain/sleet/snow. Forecast is for 48-60” of snow for Watertown.
Aron has been on storm call since the 13th, first for the storm that hit last weekend in western MA, then up to NH, followed by getting put on hold for Central Maine Power on 12/21. He is in Rockland, ME and won’t be home for Christmas. This morning there were 240,000 CMP customers without power. They never fully recovered from last weekend’s storm. He’s working 16-20 hours per day!
Keep the lineman, mechanics, tree crews, and others in your prayers as they work to restore power while being away from their families for Christmas.

Re: Well, The Christmas Blizzard Is Coming
The novelty is starting to wear off. Shovel for the dogs , and to clear the wheelchair ramp now and then.
I'll wait to plow till things calm down.
Wore goggles to the mailbox yesterday. Added a shirt today.
One truck cleared off (briefly) and running yesterday. -18 windchill it struggled a bit to fire up.
Plow truck is out back aways. It can wait.
