It looks like you are putting the head on the engine.
The head bolts need non hardening sealer put on the lower 3/4" of the threads before putting them in.
The bolt holes go into the water jacket, and water can run up the threads and leak out, without sealer.
Below is a pic of one product that works good for the head bolts, Permatex Aviation Form A Gasket.
It is sold at auto parts stores here in the USA. If you buy one, stir it before using it, it can settle in the can when sitting.
Below is a page from the Cub service manual, GSS-1411, showing the head bolt torque sequence.
https://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.cle ... -01-14.jpg
I would read the engine section in the manual, if you haven't.
The manual is at the top of the page at Cub Info, then go to Rudi's Manuals.
Tighten the bolts gradually. I would tighten them to 25 ft lbs, then 35 ft lbs, then 45 ft lbs, each time following the torque sequence.

Before putting in the head bolts, remember there is a holder for the spark plug wires that goes on the 3rd head bolt from the front, on the right.
Below is a listing for it at TM Tractor Parts, with pics of it, if you don't have a holder.

Maybe you knew this already. :)

Thank You Glen, very important information!

Besides putting sealer on the head bolt threads, here is something else you can do.
It isn't a necessity, if you can't find the spray there.
The people on here like to use Permatex Copper Spray on the new head gasket, before putting the head on the engine. It helps it seal well. Spray both sides of the gasket, just as you are going to put it together, and put the head on before the Copper Spray dries.
Use an even application of the spray on the gasket. Practice a little on some flat metal, if you have never used Copper Spray before. They sell it at auto parts stores here.

Before putting the head on, I would turn all the bolts in the holes by hand, without the sealer, and be sure they turn easily. Then remove them.
They have to turn easily to get an accurate torque reading. Use a tap in the holes to clean them, if needed, and a die on the bolts, if you didn't buy new bolts.

When it is together again, I would wait a day before putting coolant in the radiator and engine, it will let the sealers dry some. Don't run the engine without coolant in it.
Below is a picture of the sealer. Good luck. :)

Glad you are back. I was just thinking a week or so ago that we hadn't heard anything in a while. Keep up the great work and keep posting.
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over. :?:

Hi,
The engine looks good in your pictures.
The electrical system has to ground through the cast iron housings of the Cub, to make a circuit to where the battery is, under the seat.
They have said on here that when painting parts for a Cub, don't paint the castings where they touch together. They should be bare metal.
It looks like you have painted the rear of the engine, I would use paint thinner on a rag and remove all the paint where the clutch housing touches the engine.
Also the front of the engine, where it touches the front end mountings.
Remove all paint where the starter bolts on the engine, and from the starter, where it touches the engine.
All places where something needs to ground through should be bare metal.
I sent you a PM.

Also the starter switch has to have the bracket on it like in the listing below, from TM Tractor Parts, so the starter lever and rod can be used.

You probably know this, but now that the clutch assembly is installed on the flywheel, make sure you adjust the clutch fingers to even heights between 1 1/8" to 1 1/4".

It may already have been discussed earlier, but IF you replaced the pilot bushing in the rear of the crankshaft, you need to check the internal diameter where the clutch shaft inserts. It tends to get smaller when pressed in & can cause the shaft to continue turning even with clutch pedal depressed...causing transmission gear grinding! :x

Hello friends.

A few Years ago I rescued a rusted Farmall Cub in Northwest of Brazil.
Everyone remember it.

With a lot of trouble due the lack of parts and high importation taxes, finally I rebuit the engine with some parts of 1.0 FIAT cars.

I am glad to share some pictures from before and after.

Thanks to lot folks for Helping me.
