Thanks for the detail. Any suggestions? I have a John Deere dealer in town and a Tractor Supply. As well as many of the national brand auto stores.

NAPA has an equivalent hyd fluid, in 1gal & 5gal jugs.

FYI, several places sell a nice "jug pump"... I have one for hyd fluid & gear oil in 1gal jugs that I refill from 5gal jugs (easier for me to handle). I can easily pump into finals, transmission, steering housing, with no funnels and few spills.
Some are pumps & some are just flexible spouts.

Here's a similar one from Advance Auto Parts:

For steering, transmission and finals I use 90 weight TSC Ford transmission fluid. For hydraulics I use NAPA Tractor Hydraulic Fluid in the green labeled jug.

I've used Rust-Oleum farm equipment IH red with great success.(Rattle cans) But know it's the older IH red, more of a darker red than the newer IH red. The new red has more of a slightest pink, more of a tomato red to me. But Ace IH red match the new red and works good too. I use the Ace IH blue on implements and they still look good even after 4 years out in the sun. Just a thought if you're just doing small jobs, instead of having all the prep and clean up after using a spray gun.

Funny you should mention this. I just shot the tall gas cap yesterday! Did a coat of primer, then a coat of IH red Rustoleum from the rattle can. Came out great!

Thank you. I'll probably do the same. 90wt in all the normal places. Hy-tran if I can find it, but otherwise something like this NAPA. I have almost no use currently for the hydraulics on the tractor, and it's currently working fine. So I don't want to crack that open unless I have to.

Great info! Thanks!

I'm worried because the Cub uses SO LITTLE, I feel like buying even 5 gallons would be a massive waste. If I can get something in gallon containers that would be far better.

5 gal is about right for Dale, she has a "herd" to fill (maybe 5 or 6?) :?:  8)

Currently 5 cubs! And just took the "shirker" with the Woods 59 back out to the farm! He's been goofing off for way too long, but got him going again at the Bash!

Yes, like Don McCombs said, I also use NAPA's "Green" hyd fluid. States right on the jug it meets the HyTran specs...& they do have it in the ONE gallon "normal person's" jug!

Dale,
never knew that you were a woman. Not that it matters. I wanted to meet you along with many others in here (Farmallcub.com). Stan in bama too. Though he's way closer than Dale as I'm in Mississippi. But my son is near VA. beach as he's a nuclear engineer at the shipyard there. Hopefully while visiting the kid I can see you Dale along with other East Coast Cub/Farmall ppl.
