Oil Filter Spring
I changed the oil for the first time in my 49 cub. It has a spring on the retaining bolt that holds the oil filter snug against the bottom. I do not see such a spring in the parts book on this site in the pdf manuals. Is this correct? Thanks

Re: Oil Filter Spring
There should be a copper sealing washer between the lid the bolt head, is that what you are referring to?

Re: Oil Filter Spring
No. It has the copper sealing washer above the lid. Someone put a spring under the lid. It fits around the bolt and pushes the filter down. It is about an inch and one-half long and looks factory.

Re: Oil Filter Spring
I would guess that the spring was to compensate for using the wrong size oil filter.

Re: Oil Filter Spring
The bolt has two diameters, the smaller dia holds the filter down in place
