ID stone guards

Need help ID'ing the 2 stone guards below. The middle one is for a Cub-22 sickle but what would the other 2 fit? They are marked IHC. Thanks for looking.

If you look online for the part numbers on top of the guards, you might find something about them, I can't read the left and right ones. The middle one looks like MD 989.
I saw at least one Cub 22 mower with the MD 989 guards.

From the picture, those guards look shorter, enough so to not mix. What are the part numbers? Look them over closely top and bottom for the numbers.

Yes I mentioned in my original post that the center one was for a Cub-22. The one on the left has the number "1" on it and the one on the right has the number "5" on it.

It is going to take more than one digit. It should be at least three digits and at least one letter either at the start or end.

Jim, I was responding to Glen's post when he said he couldn't read those numbers. On the backside there is "H95" on one wing and "HB" on the other wing. Those are the only other number/letters on either one. Hope that helps.

H95 could be an IH part number. The only similar reference I could find is H954 which was a mower guard. I have no picture for comparison. Either H95 or H95 with an additional digit would be a very old part (probably 1910 decade or before) and somewhat likely to be for a grain binder. The evident shorter length also suggests going back that far as the longer guards, like your MD989 go back a long time.

For what it's worth, I have a setup and operating manual for a McCormick-Deering Enclosed Gear Grain Binder dated 1937. The binder belonged to the family and is long gone.

The manual shows the Guards as HB 495.

You could be onto something there. I was focused on the "H95" sequence and didn't think about similar numbers. Reinterpreting " 'H95' on one wing and 'HB' on the other wing" in that light, the whole thing goes together as part "HB 495"!

Keep in mind that the second letter (if any) on these part numbers indicates revisions of the same basic part. In trying to ID a part, it can mostly be ignored. Going back to my catalog, which is from 1928, it illustrates MD989 and HA495 right next to each other (right page). It looks familiar.

That's it! Under a magnifying glass I can see the H95 is actually 495 so between the left wing and right wing it's HB495. I can't imagine too many folks would be restoring one of those. Wow, fits all the way back to 1888!

Probably not a of restoration work on them. However, some clubs use old binders to gather wheat for their threshing shows.
