Did you make sure the gas cap is still venting?

The gas gauge has a vent hole on top of the cap just below the the edge of the gauge. Good question!

Looks pretty much like the one Stanton made a few years ago and posted in the how to forum. Is it similar?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Somebody (Steiner?) is selling repros of these, with the IH emblem on the gauge and everything, but they don't have them in Cub/Super A/140 size yet, which is a shame. I think this type of gas cap is cool!

One more picture, I found this one in an antique store I believe it was optional equipment for a early farmall h. The fuel gauge Steiner has on their parts site will work with some height modifications. The neck on the cub gas tank is the same as other farmall gas tank necks.

OH Man..... This might be darned nice if modifications to one of Steiner's 3 variations could be easily made by at home. I'd need info on "how to" modify and which model to order. Not that there's anything wrong with my wood stick with markers to indicate gas level except that I have been caught inattentive a few times and the Cub died out in the field.... Not that there's anything wrong with the IH replacement gas tank cap except that it is Dead Ugly.

I"m guessing that the height modification is all that's needed but I have no clue on what's involved.

Thanks for showing this. A real beauty and handy as all get out.

I just wrote to Steiner asking them to consider one for the Cub. Maybe if a bunch of similarly interested people wrote them, they might make one available?
