Postby Patbretagne » Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:39 pm

I remember a couple of pages of George's couloured Cubs, look at this sale and see if this could be one of them,

Hey Pat...WOW, you're RIGHT! That's George's old "Green Hornet" Cub! George had The "Green Hornet" all painted up in 1968 and he had it ready to ship by rail to the IH Museum...BUT, somewhere along the way it was "detoured" and the museum never received it!

Do you suppose that the "Green Hornet" made it's way somehow to FRANCE...only to be put up for auction years later...thinking that the story had long been forgotten!

With those fenders, I'd bet it's an Orchard Cub.

I think those fenders were to keep ti form slinging mud and rocks at the higher speeds cubs operate at in France. I see it also has the optional alternator acces opening in the hood.

Pat,

Although they are an ocean apart they do have a couple things in common... the color and the non-adjustable axle. There are enough differences they aren't likely to be mistaken for each other.

The French Cubs also wear the nice grille that we think so much of. Those fenders make Sandy #3 a little envious.

Pat ,

With the battery mounted on the rear it looks like it would be large enough to start a Diesel . But is certainly shows some Fantastic Field
Engineering  Steve.

PS What is the bid up to on the Green Hornet?
