Piston Rings

Postby Bobstark » Tue Jan 03, 2006 5:00 pm

Can anyone tell me where is the best place to buy a set of rings for my cub tractor. I live in Canada and if I have to bring them in from U.S. what is the best way to pay for them and the best way to have them shipped,
Thanks for now '

Hi Bob

What size ring do you need. Did you mesure the bore and check for bore taper and roundness? From IH std and +.010 are the same size you have to go to +.020 to get a oversize ring to fit to the bore. I have herd that rings from someone like napa are much cheeper but do not know about quality.

Good luck Billy

bob,

Ontario Used Tractors.
519-523-4922.
Steve can help you out.
Make sure you know if you have standard pistons or if they have been oversized. The rings he sent me are made by Hastings and been running them almost 3 years now in the '49 and no problems.

Welcome aboard.

bob,

You can also try CASE IH.

You might try searching for a local dealer in your area as well by googling CASE IH. I have been dealing with Don Richards for a couple yaers now as well, they are excellent.

Thanks guys for the response. I found a local supplier that can get me a set of hasting rings for $90.00 including taxes. Case I.H. dealer wanted $143.00 for a set which I thought was a little steep.

Thanks again,
Bob
