Brake Anchor Pins

Postby Steve Hales » Fri Jan 13, 2006 9:55 am

Good Day, I am working restoring my cub and I put my old oily brake bands and rods in the garbage can to recover later, well guess what, I was in a hurry to get the garbage out and it was still dark and now they are gone, I ordered new bands and rods but I don't have any anchor pins. Can I use a grade 8 5/16 bolt in the place of the pin. I want to get my final drives together and don't want to wait another week, Any ideas?

I would laugh at you, but i threw away part of my touch control last summer when cleaning up oily rags. I was too late to recover it too. the botls should work, but there is a spacer to keep the bands postiioned also.

I tried a clevis pin as an emergency replacement once. They are surface hardened, not hard all they way through and it bent.

I may have some spare, I went a bit overboard buying replacements for my missing brakes.
I will try to take a look, but you can buy them from Case/IH (C & G).

Pins

Postby allenlook » Thu Jan 19, 2006 3:08 pm

One of my pins is the top of an engine valve stem with a piece of copper pipe mungled over the end of it for the "spacer."

I think it made the picture gallery when we did the rebuild on my brakes last summer. :?
