Cultivator Pressure Spring Rod

Postby Kalebtrojacek » Fri May 27, 2022 4:51 pm

Hello Everyone,

New Cub owner here! I am working on the tool bars and realized that one cultivator tool bars is moving up and down at different times than the other. Then I realized that the set screw in the spring rod is not doing its job and the i see the rod itself moving in and out. When i tried to tighten it down with a wrench it just spins continually but doesn't tighten. Now clearly I am new at this. Is this a problem pressure spring rod, set screw, or me? I am hoping I am just missing something super obvious. I am new at all of this so I am hoping I'm not going to have to drill out the old hole tap it and order another set screw.

Thank you for all of your help. This form is amazing.

Sounds like hole or screw is stripped.

You're right it looks like the hole is stripped. How would you attack that? Drill out the hole, tap, and order a new set screw?

I would use a helicoil on it. That way you can use same size set screw

If you tap it out it will be larger and an original screw won't work. You can like the next guy say use a helicoil or just use a larger generic bolt.
