If you bench test a starter without a solenoid will the pinon gear still extend or will it only extend when a solenoid is attached?
Thanks!

Re: Bench test a starter with no solenoid
If you are talking about a Cub starter, it will extend the bendix. It’s not like a Chevy starter where the solenoid extends the bendix with a fork. It’s rotating force and the spiral on the armature shaft that engage the bendix on a Cub.
