No, the tangs would not be long enough to grab ahold of the neck.

Finally, all back together and road tested. All's good. Also changed out all the gear oil - diff and both finals. Since I won't be mounting the loader I changed the rear wheel spacing back from 52" to 44".

She was cranking slow so I ripped the starter out. What do you think, brushes look a bit worn?

Well it has a good ground unfortunately it’s not the brushes!!!

Definitely not the recommended 1/2 the brush replacement that Delco recommends!!

Probably need to cut the commutator with that amount of rub.

I always add an auxiliary power connector to my tractors so I figured I would do a quick show & tell. I use the Noco Genius 1 battery maintainer (see link below). They are available from Amazon. First I connect the power plug to the battery. This connector has a typical 12v female power socket on one end and a pair of eyelets on the other. I drill a hole thru the back of the battery box, put a rubber grommet in the hole, and push the eyelets thru and connect them to the battery. The end with the socket gets fastened to the right fender.

Now you have a fused 12v power outlet on your tractor. I have a yellow strobe emergency light that can be plugged in. The light is magnetic and comes with a switched male plug that fits directly into the socket. You can see the light just below the back light in the lower photo. Another option would be a 12v radio. A male plug could be adapted to the radio. A third option, and I use this one, is to get the Noco optional male 12v plug to the cable connector that fits the Genius 1. I snap the cable to the Genius 1 cable, plug the male plug into the female plug at the fender, plug the Genius 1 into a wall outlet and now the battery maintainer is connected directly to the battery without having to remove the battery box lid.

Finally had enough decent weather to paint the drawbar and got it installed yesterday. It doesn't line up vertically with the rockshaft arm like it does on an FCub so I'll have to rethink putting a poor man's 3 pt receiver hitch on it like I had on the Cub.

Well I had to fudge things a bit but here it is, the poor man's 3 pt hitch on a Lo-Boy. I used a Cat 1 receiver hitch (Amazon). The upper pin is a standard 1/2" pin. The double bushing came from Amazon. At the bottom I used a bar that Tractor Supply sells. I drilled 2 holes and bolted it underneath the drawbar. I attached the hitch to that bar using ring bolts with spacers to give enough clearance to prevent jamming between the hitch and the drawbar. Works great. It looks more Rube Goldberg that the FCub but performs the same. Next up is the hunt for a receiver hitch narrow fold up basket.
