Dale, I disagree that the gap is critical. It’s critical that there be a gap and if you have free play, you have the needed gap. Adjust the free play to 1” and get on with your life.

As for measurements I’ll be honest they are mostly eyeballed. I know that’s not ideal but there is gap between the bearing and fingers while the cub is sitting and off. There also is a gap while running. And honestly this cub is more for pulling the kids on a hayride 2 times a year and parking in the front yard. Maybe a parade. I have plans to run a disc behind it once in a while but that is TBD. I’ve given it 2 test runs and it’s been great. No weird noises or leaks or funny stuff. Overall I’m super happy
