Seat or shifter leveler

Postby Indianacub74 » Mon Mar 25, 2024 9:19 am

I started a new topic on rather my seat was wrong or my shifter leveler is wrong. A few people comment on a another topic of mine about it in a picture. I have felt like something isn't right about it. I think the pan seat was switched for the deluxe seat and the shifter was bent enough to get in gear.

Looks like you have some home-made seat brackets. They don't appear to have any yellow paint and are both missing some holes that are normally used to bolt on some non-seat parts (like the tool box on the right side). Other than the extra holes, they look like fairly accurate copies. The seat frame looks right except some extra holes have been drilled. Take a look at the seat pictures on TM's site to see how close your brackets are.

I see from the other thread that your shifter can turn. That means that it was originally straight (or the part that keeps it from turning is broken :)). I suggest getting a replacement of the other style.

Judging by other pictures on the brackets they are home made. Plus if you look at the right bracket where it mounts to the tractor they have used over sized nuts as a spacer.
I think your right on the shifter. Cause I fell like the bent shifter has a shorter shaft than the stright ones. So in theory if strightin it come up short. I think someone bent it to fit.
Now the debate I have is do I put a bent shifter on her. Or get a pan seat and everything to attach it. I like the deluxe seat cause I feel more secure in the seat. I'm smaller than a bean pole and feel like I would slide out of a pan seat.

You can probably buy a bent shifter for less than a pan seat and post would cost. Put a wanted ad in the "Vine" classified section.

It looks like maybe the PTO lever has been cut off as well. If it were me I'd make it right; either the correct pogo seat and post or the correct deluxe seat mount/brackets. But that's just me. You might be able to sell that deluxe seat for what a pan seat post would cost.

The first photo of the full Cub in his other post shows that the PTO shift lever is intact.
