Muffler for Cub w/184 motor
My Cub has been straight piped since I put the 184 motor on it, but it gets a lot of service giving tractor rides to my kids so like to quiet it down. The od of the exhaust pipe 1 5/8" so wondering what muffler should I use. I'm assuming 1 1/2" inlet won't work and I need 1 5/8" correct?

If memory serves me correctly, I’m thinking that the muffler for an Allis Chalmers “B” is a pretty good fit. Grab your measuring device and head to the muffler store. A lot of the mufflers they sell as Cub mufflers are way big for the Cub normal 1” black pipe.

Use a 1-1/4" Male x 1" Female Thread Reducer Bushing Pipe Fitting and a 1” NPT pipe. Then a standard Cub muffler.

Auto parts stores usually have a selection of exhaust tubing reducers, adapters, etc that you can probably get something off the shelf to work with your muffler selection. JMHO Stan

if you do not wand to loose the air flow with a reducer I think a ford jublee muffler with fit on the larger pipe.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
