I am in the process of restoring a well aged Woods 42F fast hitch mower.
I got it mostly taken apart and need help removing the blades. I used my torch and have removed the 2 bolts that seem to hold the blade retainer. Nothing else is moving. The pins moved a bit upon hammering but the retainer plate did not. What am I missing?

Re: Woods 42F blade replacement
There is a keeper on the other side. It swivels away from the head of that pin and the pin slides out toward the top of the mower.
It looks like this:
https://www.messicks.com/parts/woods/39 ... NRv43z0IPw
In your 2nd photo, if you look on "top" of the cross bar (between the blade & the deck) you will see the small dark rectangular bar that pivots, exposing the pin head which exits TOWARD the deck.
(This is usually accessed from the TOP of the deck...turn your deck right side up, and where the keyhole is near the spindle, see if you can pivot that small bar to give access to the pin, which should just push up & out. You said you already removed the bolt holding the bar in place, right?)

This is for a different deck, but the blades are removed the same...check out Part #9, Page 7:

Removal is the reverse of Step 1 on Page 5.

Re: Woods 42F blade replacement
OK
I have removed the “locking cap screws”. The “blade pivot pins” are loose and move a few thousands by hand. The “pivoting lock” does not pivot. I think it is rust frozen. I will try more aggressive methods and report.

Re: Woods 42F blade replacement
Spray it liberally with PB Blaster, wiggle, spray, wiggle...
If you haven't already, you might get on that bar with a large crescent or other wrench and try moving it that way...maybe with a cheater bar on it. Also, give it a good wack a few times to try to break loose the rust.
GOOD LUCK!!

Re: Woods 42F blade replacement
Success! I appreciate the help
The pivots locks are in bad shape and should be replaced. I assume the holes next to the pins in the top photo allow access the pivot pin? If so I can drill them out.
