The URL takes you a to a "how to" article. The picture is for a conversion on an M, but will apply to a cub. There is also another "how to" article. When I find it, will send.

Alternator

Postby David D. smith » Thu Mar 02, 2006 7:22 pm

Thanks but, That diagram is using a delco alternator.
I have converted several using the delco alternator on Ford N tractors. I need a diacram showing what pins are what with the Nissan alternator.

David, as you look at the back of the alternator, the spade connections on the top are: horizontal=S and vertical=L (not marked on alternator).
....... S
:

L

I had trouble figuring out which was which & someone on this forum told me. The schematic shown above is the one I used to wire mine & it didn't smoke..worked well.

There are three terminals on the back of the alternator, marked (some may not be marked) bat, S, And L. to make it a one wire you need a small jumper wire from the S terminal to the Bat terminal. Nothing hooks to the L terminal, the L terminal was the circuit for the idiot light. The one wire will be to the Bat terminal.

The L lug is used with either a diode, light or a momentary switch. This needs a voltage to get the alternator to start charging. If no voltage is applied to the L lug the alternator will just be sitting there looking pretty
