Eletroylsis treatment ?

Postby countershaft » Sat Sep 09, 2006 10:23 am

If I "cook" the steering housing (the whole thing ), will I harm the serial number tag in the process ?

Bryson:

The answer is an emphatic YES !

Don't do that. Instead, remove the 4 rivets and the S/N tag. Then once the front has been dunked, primed and painted, restore the S/N tag to it's rightful spot.

The tag is either aluminum or a pot metal of some type, and it WILL be destroyed by electrolysis.
