No spark !

Postby lndymn » Sat Oct 21, 2006 4:48 pm

I just bought a 47 Cub at an auction, drove it 10 blocks home, and now have no magneto spark. I checked it at the mag coil plug and then filed and reset the points. I hear it click but have no spark.

The auction people stuck a new battery ( 8 volt ) in and grounded the negative. I switched to a 6 volt and reversed to positive ground after I got it home. Would that mess up a mag? I didn't think so.

If the mag got power from a battery through the screw on the side where the wire would hook up you will have a fryed mag inside. Could that have happened to your mag? You did not by any chance hook any power up to that ground did you? Or did the wire go to a switch wrong? If you need it looked at let me know.
