Need help w/ '50 Cub value... have picture
I'm helping both the seller and buyer and they're both friends (I hope I can keep it that way).
Here is a link to the picture. Help on the value of this tractor would be much appreciated. I'm over from the YT Case board... Thanks, C.

I'll take a stab at it and then the board experts can prove me wrong. Assuming it runs w/o smoking, no foreign noises, no welds, steers in a straight line, etc etc, I'd say $1000 as it's ceretainly cosmetically challenged. Tin appears straight and tires appear fair. Let's see if I've learned anything !! (Probably not) hehehe Craig

There are two or three posts concerning this tractor on the ytmag site.
Take a real close look at the tractor and deck.
Appears to be a high crop. I believe some of the suggested prices are rather high.

It does have hi-crop rear wheels and possibly fronts as well (really can't tell from the pics) That would up the value some. Assuming good mechanical condition - meaning it does not need any major mechanical work right away and that the deck is good as well I'd say $1500 - $1800.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Without more insight into it's running condition it's hard to say, but it looks to me like a $500 tractor with $400 wheels and a $300 mower. I'm sure the mower would work better with all the blades running the right direction. The Hi-Crop wheels are a definite plus if the buyer wants them.
BTW, if it's the original hood it's a mid '49 or earlier. Can you post the serial number?

with all the oil on the floor, looks like it has a major oil leak and by the black stains on the hood, it is either burning oil or is very, very rich at the carb.
As for the tire being "backwards"... that is for traction going in reverse, if the tire that is on "right" spins, hit the brake on the spinning wheel, and the one on backwards will get traction.

That puppy has some expensive problems.
Photo #3. Is that a brace under the left front axle tube? It doesn't show up in the other photos. No dog leg. No air cleaner. Choke cable. Radiator probably shot. Looks like coolent crud on engine head. Carburator leaking. Rubber fuel line. Rear main seal and/or transmission seal. Grill. Exhaust discharge on hood - that don't look good. Dents in hood. Valve cover gasket.
Photo #1. Lower radiator housing?
Photo #2. Starter lever. Generator. Mower blade. Gear lub on top of transmission. Puddle of oil on floor. Finals pans. Pan gasket.
Photo #4. Battery box and what ever. Seals. Clutch pedal out of adjustment.
