I prolly did this the wrong way but it was the easiest for me. I pulled the engine side rear wheel off after putting the final drive on a jack stand and dragged my 48" bushhog right out from under with the draw bar still attached. My draw bar doesn't have the slots for bolts (only holes) and it is NOT easy to get off when the bolts from the bushhog are rusted onto it. My engine STILL won't turn over, so I either push or crank the whole contraption when I need it to move. Now I get to take WD40 a wire brush to the rust pile that is my mower and hope that the bolts don't break off when I go to take it apart. My point of veiw was that a) the rear wheel comes off with no hassle b) the drawbar is of no use when the engine won't turn over, and c) the blade and decki s a nice uniform color of rust so what else could happen to it?

As for when I got it off.. not to brag but since I'm only 20 and still young enough to think it doesn't hurt I just lifted the sucker up and carried it up to the garage. Mind you, a 48" inch deck isn't light, and I thought I was gonna die when I got it there with it. Some kinda jig to move that thing might be a good investment.

Alos Kroil has a very good rep on this board for getting bolts to come loose without breaking

TTTS:

Yup, been there done that, and now at 53 I am wishing I didn't. Course with my sternum, I ain't gonna be doing that ever again...

I seriously would reconsider the WD40 plan though.. WD stands for Water Displacement and 40 means it was it's 40th shot at the can.. before they got something that worked somewhat ok.

If you want penetrating oil, then use any of a number of GOOD ones.. from Solov-Rust, to PB Blaster, to Kroil and a few others. Even Gunk works better than WD-40... :!:  :!:  :D

Hey, texastech. glad to hear form you. first I would suggest a different penetrating oil than WD40. It has many good uses, but it is not particularly good as penetrating oil. Kroil, PB Blaster, even plain old Liquid Wrench are superior for breaking loose rusted bolts.

And to echo what you have already been told, though I assume that like most kids (me included when I was your age), lay off lifting and carrying the heavy stuff unless it is an absolute necessity. I used to do it, including installing final drives or wheel weights by hand. Now I walk with a cane due to a bad hip and have a bad back.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

And quite a bit farther north, at least to I-80. I can't speak for Plumbroke or PWL, just a bit farther north.

Yep John, just like Ron said. I drive over the whole thing. The Woods and even the IH C-3 are heavy duty decks with thick pulley covers and don't know the cub is even there.

I do that too with my C-3 and the Lo-Boy. The only problem I have is getting the deck to sit still on a concrete floor. It wants to kick out in front of me.
