The hunt is the fun part. Quick story, I was driving back home with the family on Sunday, about 1/3 mile from my house, I rapidly slowed the car and pulled into a driveway. My wife wanted to know what was going on... "There's a cub for sale." was my respond, with that I was out of the car knocking on the door. No answer, so I climb the horse fence to take a look at the tractor.

It is a nice yellow square nose, in pretty good shape, with a IH mower deck, fast hitch, deluxe seat. I finally get to the price, $2600! Argh, one I could actually drive home  . About this time I look up and admire the 4 horses that have come to me, I finally came to my senses and hurried back to the car. Of course, my wife is now laughing at me, said it was nice to see the 10 year old come out in me again.

The hunt is fun!

Sounds like another one of those cubs that sit around "Sentimenting" while they rust away. :(

I don't know how it is for you guys up North...BUT, down here in the South folks appreciate you're going back more than just ONCE to talk with them about that tractor they got in the field, or hedgerow. Sometimes I believe they just want to test "how serious" a potential buyer might be towards Pap Paw's old rusty Cub & such !

I just wish I had BD's charm in easing the owner of a cub into becoming a previous owner.

Yeah,

Cub hunting is fun. I spied a couple last winter, went inquiring, people don't want to let them go. (I wonder why? 8) )

Anyway it did take me almost a full 2 yrs. to finally pry a '67 Loboy out of a guy and make him a part of it's history. He "wanted" to restore it, but really did not have the time to invest, so he did the right thing and now I've restored and had fun with for the last 3 or 4 years.

Hang in there.
