PTO Pulley for Woods 59 on a manual lift

Postby Buzzard Wing » Tue Aug 14, 2007 8:05 am

I am sure Nik or someone has an answer...

The PTO pulley for my Woods 59 doesn't seem to fit with the manual lift 'bracket'. I can barely get it on the PTO without it hitting.

Is it supposed to work or am I out of luck with that pulley?

Thanks

Larry, I remember from an old post that you can either shim up the lift frame with a nice homemade plate, or washers, or get the next size smaller pulley.

yup, what billy/millie said. Teh Woods was intended for use with either hydraulics or a Woods hand lift, which mounted on the center of the tractor, they made no provisions to clear the rear/handlift.

OOooo shim it up! That's a good idea. I know those pulleys are pretty pricey and I am not sure this Cub can handle the load as it is.

Great idea Rick! Thanks....

And EJP, probably not the best idea to use a manual lift with it anyway... but I may have a lead on another Lo Boy, so I could take the TC off the rusty Nameless one and put it on the not rusty nameless.

Larry,

This one was shimmed up with 2 or 3 washers under each bolt.

Thanks George. I just took a quick look at it and I'm thinking the lift rod may hit the long ear dash. You may recall this one, it is the one with the gaffed up hood from the 'reinforced' lift rod.

I borrowed the one off Cathy (has the bends for a long ear dash) a while back and it barely clears as it is.

By the way George, I put the 4.80s from the Lo Boy on this one (with new tubes). So I didn't need to buy new tires to have a pair like yours! The only catch is that for some reason I planned poorly and ended up with red rims on a 64 and white ones on a 49. With the hubs painted the opposite color. (No yeller paint) But I guess contrast is good.

A Woods handlift was used at the center, bolted to the torque tube. A shimmed rear hand lift should work but a little harder to do. its true the "bent" lift rod is/was used with the longear dash to clear the extended ends.

My pulley looks to be the same as George's ~6 1/4"

Looks like 3 washers will work perfectly....

Now if I can ever get that mower deck back. Got it out for paint and spray bedliner. Wonder if it will work as a snowblower???
