C 22 Sickle Blade Cover

Postby mark1757 » Fri Aug 17, 2007 2:05 pm

Has anyone created/developed/invented a device to cover the entire length of the C-22 mower blade?
I'm thinking of using 2 pieces of aluminium/vinal siding.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Mark - I used 1/4" spaced hardware cloth. It was easy to form and trim and it works very well. Plus it leaves the bar open for viewing. You can secure it with wire ties and it is quickly removed if you want to use the mower.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I used 2 pieces of sheet metal. They were already bent to 90 degrees and I bent them to wrap around the guard tips. One covers most of the bottom and wraps a bit around the top. The second does the reverse. The ends were trimmed to fit at each end of the cutter bar. If a piece had been wider, it might have been doable with a single piece. OTOH, it may have been impossible to install/remove. Some bungies hold them on.

Pretty well impossible for a bypasser to get his fingers into the knife. Some of you have probably seen it at a show.
