Painting question

Postby Yogie » Sat Nov 10, 2007 4:56 am

Does anyone still place cork in the bolt holes before painting their tractors like they did at the factory?
We have a new TSC store in town where you can buy bolts by the pound real cheap. I was thinking about picking up some and putting them in the trunk and final drive holes that I don't use. I'd use some anti-seize on them also.
Last night I stopped by a hardware coming home and found a whole bunch of different size cork.
It may just be me but I don't like seeing open bolt holes for dirt and rust to collect.
My first stop after buying my tractor was the shop where I work, I saw all of these broken bolts that needed a nut welded on so they could be removed. You guessed it, they were all cork

Yogie - cork is the way to go.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Yogie, if you contact Clem, he may still have some "Cork Sets" left. They're perfect and well worth it, http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=1837

It is a good idea to plug em, they are through holes.
